Wellness testing is when we run a chemistry profile on your pets’ blood to check the internal organs and a complete blood count (CBC) to check for infection and other disease. This testing is always a good idea no matter the age of your furry friend! In young pets, wellness testing provides a baseline for what is normal for that patient. In the event an illness we can compare to these values and can pick up slight increases in values which may help with diagnosis and treatment. In our older patients, wellness testing is an effective way to monitor and detect internal health issues sooner. Many times our senior pets do not show signs of illness until the issue has progressed to advanced stages. By performing regular wellness testing, we hope to catch serious diseases sooner so we can intervene and treat the condition before it becomes life threatening.
